In general, companies build and exercise their company-specific knowledge management scheme to heighten knowledge sharing and learning among employees. Learning activities, however, are usually limited to fragments of working methods or short pieces of advices. Knowledge management of companies can be greatly enhanced when it is combined with structural course materials produced by or in combination with formal educational institutions.

2. Title:
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to develop a standardization model of Learner Information Profile focusing on characteristics and performance of learners in the Korean higher education environment and extend the LIP model to m-Learning systems. Earlier researches related to the standardization of learner information are analysed and some ideas added from instructional theory for dealing with meaningful information about learners.

3. Title:
Abstract:
This study attempts to analyze teaching and learning processes of web-based instruction (WBI) as shown in recent literature, and to develop a theoretical framework of WBI using a prominent existing distance education theory called Transactional Distance Theory in order to provide better understanding of the essential pedagogical components of WBI. Recent studies have shown that the key elements of the structure of WBI are content expandability, content adaptability and visual layout.

As Korea opened its education market to the world in the mid 1990s, several foreign education institutions, particularly from Canada, the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, became interested in providing distance education programs to Koreans. Then, the government initiated the Virtual University Trial Project in February 1998, intended to operate until February 2000. The Trial Project has resulted in fifteen virtual entities.

In the 1990s, Korea focused on the fulfillment of the public need for higher education and lifelong learning, and the effective use of advanced technologies in schools. The government’s plans and action strategies for open lifelong education and technology have been developed according to the suggestions made by the Presidential Commission on Education Reform since 1995. In 1997, the Commission recommended the establishment of a virtual university which offers information technology (IT).
